Western Spotted Coralroot (White Form) at Goose Rock

While hiking in Deception Pass State Park at Goose Rock, we found one stem, nearly finished of the all-white form of the Western Spotted Coralroot, Corallorhiza maculata var. occidentalis fma. immaculata.  This has no spotting on the all-white lip and a stem that is either yellow or white, the latter in this case.  There is a yellow-stemmed form of this species that has a spotted liip, fairly common in some areas, but this form is quite rare.  I did not have my macro lens with me and there was not much use in taking a lot of pictures in any case since the plant had only three flowers that were in very poor shape.  It was good to find this form, however, and we will have to return next year to see if we can find it again.
